Blue Ridge Mountain Maze is new to the Charlottesville region, bringing our 20-year refined form of "agritainment" and fall fun to our community. The 5-acre corn maze theme this year is "Get Outside" to celebrate the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and to encourage people to get outside and have a blast. The maze has 2.5 miles of "cornfusing" paths. Each maze wanderer is armed with a survival guide and flag on a mission to collect puzzle pieces to the maze design and test their trivia skills to find their way out. Awaiting them is a victory bridge to look over what they just did. Maze takes about 45 minutes to complete. If one gets "udderly cornfused" there is a maze master to help. Corny- we know, and that is the point. We have a large selection of pumpkins and local farm products. A courtyard of fun activities for kids of all ages (and the young-at-heart), including farm animals, pumpkin sling shots, giant slides, mini-mazes, rope mazes, tire swings, giant hay bale obstacle course, fidget ladders and more. This all equals hours of fun. The courtyard is filled with farm education to add learning to the fun. (less)... Read more
Chemistry Saves Lives - Texas A&M University's Chemistry Road Show
Presented by Dr. Jim Pennington
A Fall Wizard is coming to spark your interest in Chemistry! Join us to ignite imaginations and inspire students using chemistry demonstrations! There will be exploding pumpkins, weird polymers, super cold materials and even some surprising loud reactions! Dr. Jim Pennington presents the Texas A&M University Chemistry Road Show.
Chemistry is fundamental to medical education, acting as the foundation on which the human body functions. Chemistry is the key to life and underpins the search for a cure for cancer. The late President Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush were advocates of medical research to find cures for cancer following the death of their daughter Robin. With research, cancer is being cured.
